For this week’s Art Focus, we bring you the humorous paintings of Swedish artist Andreas Englund. Through his skills of the brush, he answers questions like what happens when a superhero is flying through the air and suddenly needs to use the bathroom?  Or, how do you perform dental procedures on someone who has super teeth? He states “humour can be the carrier of messages that are otherwise hard to convey. For me, it liberates my thoughts and ideas from pretentiousness while at the same […]

While in Hong Kong for his show at Above Second (covered), INSA found plenty of time for two of his loves, eating and painting. For some of the murals (like the one above), he collaborated with local artist Xeme, whose Chinese calligraphy were tributes to the now deceased Hong Kong OG graffiti legend, Tsang Tsaou Choi, aka “King of Kowloon”. More pics INSA sent us after the jump…

If you previously have had the pleasure of seeing Minnesota artist Gregory Euclide’s work in person, then you will surely attest to what a immersive experience his multi-dimensional mixed media work can be. David B Smith Gallery, who represents his work in Denver, have just published a limited edition giclee print – titled Untitled. You may be wondering how one of Euclide’s works would translate into an essentially flat medium, but the original image was created with 2-dimensional representation in mind as it features as cover […]

Besides their reality bus stop ad campaign in Los Angeles, TrustoCorp also decided to make their statement on Hollywood. Many of you know that entertainment industry is one of the important attractions of LA and at the center of Tinseltown is it’s famous Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd (also parodied by D*Face a while back). Between Hollywood and Vine, more than 2400 stars have been given along the 15 block length. What you may not know is the actual boulevard runs almost 5 miles […]

Looks like Tim O’Brien is the go-to guy now when it comes to the fall of dictators. After “x”-ing out Osama bin Laden for the TIME’s cover a while back, the magazine asked him to headline their latest issue with the cover art for their Gaddafi story. Since the elusive former Libya strongman is still on the loose, although his rule is pretty much over, the painting had to be a little more subtle (explained on Tim’s blog). More detailed pics and actual cover after […]
