Do these two Italian street magicians never stop? After making a pit stop at the FAME Festival and the R.I.P.Arte Festival, Blu and Ericailcane are at it again – this time with a collaboration piece.  This looks like they are taking aim at a popular target – politician, bankers, and corporate types.  The octopus looks to be by Ericailcane and the rest by Blu. See the full mural as well as some in-progress shots after the jump…

Since a solo in early 2008 and a mini-show at the end of 2008, fans of Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) in Los Angeles have had little to cheer about.  Well, no solo as of yet but at the end of the month, the next best thing will be opening at Merry Karnowsky Gallery – a joint show with Femke Hiemstra and Deedee Cheriel. The LA-based painter known for her seductive imagery and soft touch will be presenting seven new paintings and four drawings when the doors open […]

Coming up soon on August 5th, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be opening his latest solo show in Copenhagen at the V1 Gallery. Using a broad array of techniques in his arsenal including mixed media works on canvas and paper, as well as screen prints, retired stencils, and Rubylith cuts, Your Ad Here examines the control of public space by politics and/or advertising campaigns. But, to turn things around, Shep is also celebrating the fact that through street art, anyone could make their agenda or “ad” seen […]

As one of the early influences for the Low Brow Movement, AM is certainly no stranger to tattoo culture. We have covered tattoo artists in the past (Scott Campbell and Shawn Barber come to mind) as well as featured tattoos chosen by fans and inspired by their favorite artists. Despite all this, we were still taken aback by the strange beauty of Rick Genest who has turned his entire body into a piece of art. Genest, also known as Zombie Boy, first shot to fame […]

One of the rare digital artists we cover here on AM, Heisuke Kitazawa or PCP will be opening a show at the end of the month at Giant Robot 2. You may remember when we featured his murals in the LA Little Tokyo a couple years back, but for those who aren’t familiar with his work, the Tokyo-based artist is known for his dream-like psychadelic landscapes. Go see While You Were Away starting July 30th with the new body of work described as “about loneliness […]

Known for his penchant for painting murals of boats and creatures of the sea, for example Whale of a Time and The Harnessing of Giant Squids, Phlegm has taken it to the next level and painted an actual boat. The effect is quite striking when seen half submerged and makes us want to see how the mural on the jet he painted would look in the air. More pics after the jump…
