Openings: Green Day - “The Art of Rock” @ StolenSpace
AM just got back from the opening of Green Day’s “The Art of Rock” show at London’s StolenSpace gallery (previewed), the night before the band starts a run of sold out dates on the UK leg of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour.
Logan Hicks (interviewed) curated the group show, which consisted of 18 pieces of art inspired by the lyrics of the new album. The participating artists were M-City (Mariusz Waras), Meggs, Peat Wollaeger, Pisa73, Ron English (featured), Sadhu, Sixten, The London Police, Will Barras, Adam (5100) Feibelman, Broken Crow (interviewed), C215 (Christrian Guemy), Chris Stain (interviewed), Component, Dabs (Myla), Eelus, Jeremiah Garcia, Lucamaleonte, and of course, Logan Hicks.
Each artist received the lyrics to a track, but not the tune itself, and produced a piece of art inspired by Billie Joe’s words. Read on for our pictures from the opening and details of a giveaway after the jump.
Logan and the band were in town, along with Eelus and Will Barras, and came along to the fun opening, interacting with the mixture of art and music fans. They chatted with fans through the evening, and shared experiences of their own personal art collecting with us.
StolenSpace produced an excellent catalogue of the exhibition including artwork from the show along along with the lyrics, and generously donated a couple of the catalogues for us to give away to Arrested Motion readers. Just post us a comment here including the title of your favorite Green Day tune. The ones that match our favorites the closest win! Contest ends 7pm Sunday UK time.

Hey ho! I’ll go to Stolen Space Gallery on October 31. I’m from Germany and I’m going to fly to London from October 31 to November 2. My favorite song is Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
