We recently stopped by the studios of Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) to catch up on a few projects he has in the works. Today we have for you a sneak peek of an upcoming collaboration (arranged by LeBasse Projects) from Matsu & Harbour City that has been getting prepped for lucky art heads in Hong Kong. Entitled Sky Is The Limit, a 6.5 meter-high stainless steel sculpture with one of his characters riding a horse aiming for the atmosphere from the Brooklyn-based Japanese artist will be unveiled soon. Based loosely on the classic 19th century oil painting of Napoleon Crossing The Alps, this modern remake will be the biggest sculpture & installation to grace the Ocean Terminal Forecourt to date. That’s a bold statement considering some of the heavy hitters such as KAWS (here), Yayoi Kusama, Yue Minjun (here), and Florentijn Hofman (here) whose work have graced this iconic location. The exhibition will take place from August 15 to September 9, 2014.
