Streets: Trustocorp (Los Angeles)

Street collective Trustocorp recently unleashed a new bus stop campaign in their usual tongue-in-cheek manner. The urban interventions were installed at various benches up and down Los Angeles, even with one that mirrored the imagery of the piece they put in our Beverly Hills group show, City of Fire, a while back. Luke Chueh – “I Am Your Plaything” @ Rotofugi

Last month in Chicago, the Rotofugi art toy boutique and gallery hosted all new works from Luke Chueh (interviewed) which was collectively entitled I Am Your Plaything. Openings: Parra – “Kind Regrets” @ HVW8

Over the weekend, Dutch artist Piet Janssen aka Parra brought his bizarre and voluptuous imagery to Los Angeles for all enjoy with a showing at the HVW8 Gallery. Entitled Kind Regrets, the exhibition included paintings, drawings, sculptural items as well as murals on the exterior of the West Hollywood showspace. To the delight of all who attended, Parra was happy to interact with, sketch, and talk to his well wishers, collectors, and fans. After a big time collaboration with Os Gemeos, Spanish young gun Aryz has painted a solo mural for the Urban Forms Gallery event in Poland. This piece featuring his signature street still life leads off this weeks Streets: World Roundup. Rewind (Sept 24 – 30)

Leading things off this week is a video introducing the new Doggy Radio from Yoshitomo Nara. Jen Stark – “To the Power Of” @ Martha Otero

Yesterday, Jen Stark’s To the Power Of exhibition kicked off at the Martha Otero Gallery, her first solo ever in Los Angeles. Featuring the locally-based artist signature papercut sculptures, the complex multi-colored creations charmed attendees to the showing all night long. Streets: Blu (Rome)

After painting a brilliant mural in Spain for the DesOrdes Creativas Festival back in July, Italian street savant Blu has surfaced in Rome with another detailed wall. This piece seen at greyhound track, under Ponte Marconi features renderings of classic roman sculptures but updated with a modern twist – religious figures, politicians, the KKK, and even the couch potato make an appearance.  Check out more details in the photos below… Via StreetArtNews. A couple weeks back, the David B. Smith Gallery in Denver hosted the opening for Gregory Euclide’s latest solo show. Preview: Mark Dean Veca – “Raging Opulence” @ San Jose Museum of Art

Streets: DesOrdes Creativas (Part III) – Liqen

After heavy hitters like the Italians Blu & Ericailcane did their thing at the DesOrdes Creativas Festival in Spain, Mexico’s finest Liqen has traveled to the town of Ordes to make his own mark. Seemingly taking a page from the political and figurative work of Blu, Liqen has painted a beautifully rendered mural of  a giant hand with a Shell logo ring sweeping their dirty laundry under the “rug.” Check the details below… Discuss Liqen here.
