The prolific artist DALeast has struck again, this time in Vienna. The South Africa-based Chinese artist painted a mural that draws from his roots as the title of this latest piece is “-“, the a character that means “one” in Chinese. Painted over some scattered graffiti, the work featuring his animal characters rendered with his kinetic brushstrokes blends in nicely with the wall. Earlier this month (June 1-8), the Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival kicked things off with new work from Nychos. The Vienna-based street muralist brought his cartoonish anatomical aesthetic to Denmark and painted a series of works on billboards & walls, ranging from painterly techniques to graffiti. Other artists scheduled to make appearances include Blade, John Howard, Horphe, Ken Sortais, Christian Dinesen, and Anders Reventlov Larsen. While in town for her show in Copenhagen (covered), Hyuro also spent time working on a massive new mural over 270 meters long. Spending about two weeks painting her progressive imagery featuring an elk making a transformation as it trots through a forest, the long piece is a gift to her fans in the Danish capital. Brazilian artist Herbert Baglione recently visited Mexico City for the opening of his newest solo show “Obituary” @ Fifty24Mx gallery. The new show includes new paintings and installations by the artist. This fresh exhibition highlights Vernon’s cerebral and energetic visuals and pushes them to another level. The Hole gallery in New York continues it’s run of great shows. This one is a group exhibition titled Extraction and it’s focus on new approaches in abstract painting. Tracey Emin recently revealed a duo gallery show at New York’s Lehmann Maupin. Entitled I Followed You To The Sun, this massive show featuring 100 works of art was displayed at both it’s 26th Street and Chrystie Street gallery locations.
