If you are near Pasadena tonight, you might want to stop by the Switcheroo x Flopdoodle Holiday Party put on by Tim Biskup, Amanda Visell, and Michelle Valigura. Fresh off his big show last weekend, Biskup is back in action - this time with collaborative sculptures with Visell - the centerpiece of the night, a “HelperCentaurEphunt” (seen after the jump) limited edition wood figure. As you can see by the image above, it will consist of Biskup’s iconic “Helper” and Visell’s iconic elephant figures squeezed into one (limited to 25 figures, about 9″ x 8″ x 9″, $800). Also you can expect original paintings, sculptures, and customs galore.

AMwas in attendance at the “F%#k Cancer! We Love Justin” silent art auction held at Poketo studios. You may not recognize Justin VanHoy’s name, but you’ve undoubtedly seen the work he’s done as art director of Swindle and his contributions to Obey Clothing, Cobra Snake and Wired Magazine. All proceeds from the event went directly to support Justin’s recovery from a successful bone marrow transplant after a relapse of lukemia.
The big contributor of the evening was Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Paul Weitz, who went home with four works in total, which included some great pieces by Shepard Fairey and Caroline Hwang. Other artists who donated their work for the auction were: Amanda Visell, Derek Albeck, Ernesto Yerena, Jim Houser, Tim Biskup, Travis Millard and many more. If you missed last weekend VIP opening reception for LeBasse Project’s Inaugural show, do yourself a favor and stop by this Saturday, March 21st for the official opening. Modus Films aka the guys behind Analog Color put together a little video teaser for the exhibition, which will include artists Yoskay Yamamoto, Meryl Donoghue, Tessar Lo, Koralie, Melissa Haslam, Brian Donnelly, Ryuichi Ogino, Lisa Alisa, Kentaro Hiramatsu, Nate Frizzell, Edwin Ushiro, Amanda Visell, Eric Fortune, Jason Redwood, Scott Belcastro, Alicia Ross, Jack Long, Michele Valigura, Laura Ball and Casey Ruble.
“Nobody walks in LA” is a show that will be exposing some Los Angeles based emerging artists to the Barcelona art scene put together by our friends over at Daily Dujour and Tina Ziegler from Atticus Gallery BCN. Baby Tattooville alum Amanda Visell is organizing a bone marrow drive for one of her close friends who has had a relapse with his leukemia. None of his family members are a match and he desperately needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. Not that this should be the reason why you would get tested to see if you are a match, but she is willing to send you an original drawing if you do go through with it. The fifth installment of Vivisect Playset is opening up this Friday, December 5th at Gallery 1988 SF (7-10 pm). Luke Chueh (curator since 2004) has said this will be the second to last of this annual show (last one being next year). Also dropping will be the Greg “Craola” Simkins mini-print set that we had previously talked about - good luck for all those hunting the chase original drawings (example of this as well as full list of artists and preview images we have gathered after the jump)
