Preview: “Juxtapoz Turns 18” @ Copro Gallery

This Saturday night, March 24th, the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica will play host to a group exhibition celebrating 18 years of Juxtapoz goodness.  An excellent lineup of artists have submitted work to pay their respects to the counter-culture magazine that has revolutionized the art scene including Marion Peck, Mark Ryden, Andrew Schoultz, Souther Salazar, Anthony Ausgang, Tiffany Bozic, Candice Tripp, SHAG and many more. Beyond Eden 2011 Overview

A couple weekends ago, along with PULSE and Art Platform, Los Angeles hosted another art fair, Beyond Eden, at the LA Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. This third rendition of the annual event drew over 5000 visitors who witnessed a special special presentation honoring the art and accomplishments of Anthony Ausgang as well as took in the offerings of Thinkspace, La Luz De Jesus, Copro Gallery, T.A.G. Baby Tattooville ’11: Michael Hussar – “Wunderland”

For the third straight year (see 2010), one of the featured artists, Michael Hussar, hosted the strictly adult-oriented portion of Baby Tattooville – Wunderland. As before, all of the action took place in Hussar’s suite where in the main room, models posed on a large bed as muses for Hussar & other artist’s drawings and for impromptu photo sessions (see above with Ron English). Baby Tattooville ’11: “Baby Tattooville On Parade” Opening @ Riverside Art Museum

Preview: Death of Vivisect @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

“Vivisect VI” or the “Death of Vivisect” is set to open tomorrow at Gallery 1988 (LA).  One of the first annual group shows at g1988, the Luke Chueh (interviewed) co-curated exhibition focuses on artists who employ animals in their work to convey the human condition. Openings: Hi-Fructose Group Show – “Overdose” @ Copro Gallery

“Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room. The majority of the exhibition’s body of work is displayed in the gallery’s main room. A table was set up over in the smaller wing of the gallery for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition 1 book signing. Preview: “Overdose” Hi-Fructose Group Show @ Copro Gallery

After their highly successful group show last year, Hi-Fructose is back again with another exhibition, this time titled “Overdose,” opening April 4th at Copro Gallery.  With a increasingly more respected reputation as one of the best publications in the scene, they been able to assemble a pretty amazing lineup.  Sure to be one of the showstoppers is this huge 50 x 50 inch Chris Berens piece seen above.  See some other preview pics as well as the full lineup after the jump.
