Antony Micallef (interviewed) will be opening his first solo in Asia on May 13th at Pearl Lam Galleries in Hong Kong. The British artist will present a new series of paintings and studies that explore the relationships of the mechanics of artistic intent, representation, and the use of paint as a material for expressing emotions. On February 13th (private view on the 12th), the postponed show that we mentioned last year from Antony Micallef will open at Lazarides Rathbone. Openings: “Brutal” Group Show (London)

Lazarides and The Vinyl Factory, joined their forces to bring an exceptional group show to art lovers at the peak of London art week. Brutal is an annual off-site exhibition set up in the abandoned office building the middle of Temple area in Central London. Openings: Antony Micallef – “A Little Piece of Me” @ The Outsiders

Last week, Antony Micallef’s (interviewed) show featuring his ongoing Head series opened at The Outsiders in London. The gifted painter put ten examples of his abstract gestural works on display and collectively named the exhibition A Little Piece of Me, an apt term seeing as these works are somewhat self-portraits and an integral part of his work process even when creating his larger works. Openings: Lazarides Minotaur Event @ The Old Vic Tunnels

A couple nights ago, the Minotaur event put on by Lazarides kicked off at the The Old Vic Tunnels, also the site of 2010′s Hell’s Half Acre exhibition. Perhaps influenced by the pop-up restaurant The Tree House (see video above) in Frankfurt for which he presumably curated the artwork for, Lazarides will be bringing the PRET A DINER concept in for his newest project in London.
