Openings: Cheryl Dunn – “Sometimes the Answer” @ Ivory & Black

Last Friday, Ivory & Black in London celebrated their grand opening with a show from New York-based Cheryl Dunn of Beautiful Losers’ fame. The acclaimed filmmaker and photographer has made a career of documenting urban and youth culture spanning a wide expanse of subjects such as skaters, the homeless, musicians, graffiti, artists, and their processes. Teaser: Ellis Gallagher @ Adjust Gallery (Miami)

Brooklyn-based artist Ellis Gallagher (interviewed) is following up his New York City solo exhibition at Mighty Tanaka (teased) in January with a solo at Adjust Gallery in Miami’s Wynwood District on April 9. Preview: “Come As You Are” @ Prism Gallery

Looks like Prism Gallery is about to drop some bombs on LA. This Thursday, they are hosting the opening (7-9pm) of “Come As You Are”. This group show has a line-up of heavy hitters like Os Gemeos, Kelsey Brookes, Clare Rojas, Clayton Brothers, Cleon Peterson, Susanne Melanie Berry, Richard Colman, Cheryl Dunn, Dennis Hopper, Craig Steeyk, Deanna Templeton and Ed Templeton. 50 Parties Art Auction @ Ryan McGinness Studios

On Friday, AM had the pleasure of attending one of Ryan McGinness‘ exclusive 50 Parties events held at his SOHO studio. Given that all the major New York auction houses had held their fall sales during the week, it was appropriate that McGinness’ party that night was itself an auction – but one in which the artists themselves were the sellers, with no auction house taking a commission.
