Last month, the Los Angeles Public Library unveiled a new card designed by Shepard Fairey and Cleon Peterson. The first artist-designed, limited-edition library card made available at all 73 locations features an image of the historic Central Library, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2016. Shep further states – “My wife Amanda and I believe in the value of libraries to provide resources for the public, especially those who can’t afford decent computers or an extensive book collection. When I was younger, I did most of […]
As part of their pre-summer program, Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan recently opened a group show titled Mint Julep. Featuring works by Maya Hayuk, Cleon Peterson, Revok, and Francesco Igory Deiana, the exhibition opened on May 18th and will stay on view through July 22nd. The idea of this show was to mix artists and their diverse styles into a fresh, attractive installation, similar to a Mint Julep cocktail, made by mixing bourbon, ice, sugar and mint into a refreshing drink. Viewers got to see Hayuk’s colorful, layered weave paintings that balance between tradition, psychedelic, strict […]

Tonight in Antwerp, Cleon Peterson will be presenting a new exhibition at PLUS ONE entitled The Judgement. The showing will feature, for the first time in Europe, a large scale sculpture from the provocative American artist – a three dimensional representation of the chaotic and brutal imagery seen in his work. Curated by Case Studyo, who have collaborated with him on sculptures and editions in the past, the solo show will also feature his violent paintings filled with clashing figures, tormentors and victims, made all the more […]
For the entire month of January, Cleon Peterson has an exhibition open in Hong Kong at The Space in Sheung Wan (210 Hollywood Road) with the support of Over The Influence. Entitled Purity, the new body of work features his distinctive barbaric imagery of black and white figures fighting each other and among themselves. Although you may think the title of the show looks toward the light, the American artist actually thinks purity is one of the most evil things he can think of. He explains […]
The Brandalism project started in 2012 in London when two friends, sick of the visual pollution of their city, spent five days reclaiming 36 billboards in five cities in the UK. Two years later, we saw reclamation of over 360 corporate advertising spaces with hand made original art works submitted by 40 international artists. This year, on the 28th December, The United Nations 21st ‘Conference of Parties’ aka Cop21 was the perfect backdrop for their biggest project to date. 600 posters were installed in outdoor media […]

Over the weekend, the Library Street Collective hosted the opening for a new show from Cleon Peterson in Detroit. Poison features new paintings featuring nightmarish scenes of violence and gore, nothing new to fans of the former assistant to Shepard Fairey. What is new though are the sculptural editions that Peterson has included in the new body of work, a natural next step to bringing his provocative imagery to life. Photo credit: Sal Rodriguez.
