New Group Show @ Library Street Collective

On February 27th, the Library Street Collective will be opening a group show at their Detroit space featuring a diverse selection of artists spanning different genres. Included on the roster are Adrian Falkner, AJ Fosik, Cleon Peterson, Faile, Hacer, Kelsey Brookes, Mars-1, POSE, REVOK, Ryan McGinness (seen above), Sam Friedman, Shepard Fairey, and Swoon. Openings: Cleon Peterson – “Poison” @ Library Street Collective

Over the weekend, the Library Street Collective hosted the opening for a new show from Cleon Peterson in Detroit. Poison features new paintings featuring nightmarish scenes of violence and gore, nothing new to fans of the former assistant to Shepard Fairey. In association with his upcoming show in Detroit, Cleon Peterson has released a series of sculptural editions for fans who want to see his brutal imagery taken to the third dimension. The three offered sculpts come in an edition of ten in three different colorways (black, white, and gold), mirroring the palette of the provocative artist’s paintings. Provocative painter Cleon Peterson has worked with the Library Street Collective before like during last year’s Art Basel Week in Miami (covered). Their new collaborative effort, a show entitled Poison, will be opening on August 29 at the LSC gallery space in Detroit and will no doubt feature more powerful and barbaric imagery from the former assistant to Shepard Fairey, drawing from his experiences and dark past. VNA Magazine just announced the release info about their newest issue #29. With Cleon Petersen as their cover artist, they picked his hometown of LA to celebrate the launch. The event will be held at Subliminal Projects, this Valentines Day, Saturday Feb. 14th, between 6-9pm. This issue features an extensive report on Peterson and his violently bacchanalian work that echoes the brutality he sees in society. Tomorrow, January 27th, at a random time between 10 am and 12 noon PST, a some collaborative prints will be released between Shepard Fairey and Cleon Peterson. Featuring the Pattern of Corruption used in one of their joint murals in Miami’s Wynwood district (covered), painted during Basel Week Miami, the striking imagery will be released in 3 different pairs of colorways – Black/White, Gold/Black and Blue/White.
