With Christmas soon approaching, now would be a good time to tell you about a project from Dabs Myla that opened recently in Los Angeles. With the support of LeBasse Projects, the Australian duo created a series of installations at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Covering three blocks of the popular shopping & dining thoroughfare with holiday themed imagery, the two artists were able to give visitors perfect photo opportunities to remember this festive season. Continuing their design work, Dabs Myla recently collaborated with Vans on a footwear and apparel collection for women featuring the duo’s imagery. Included in the set are the classic Sk8-Hi Sli, Authentic and Classic Slip-Ons shoes as well as a T-shirt, hoodie, tee dress, backpack, trucker hat, and canoodle socks. Recently in the Viacom building (1515 Broadway) at New York’s Times Square, Dabs Myla created a new installation open to the public featuring sculpture, painting, wallpaper, and hand crafted objects and furniture from Modernica. We recently got an update from solidARTy.org that they are started another round of charity art auctions on their website. The project launched back in November by auctioning artworks donated by artists, galleries and studios, with 100% of the proceeds going to AreYouSyrious.org organization. So far they have raised over €20,000 for the cause and are now continuing their efforts by offering more original and rare, editioned work by world renowned street, urban and contemporary artists. A couple weeks ago, Dabs Myla opened up an ambitious new exhibition at the Modernica factory property in Los Angeles entitled Before and Further. The title is appropriate as the artistic duo took things to the next level with an immersive installation featuring paintings, sculptures, ceramics, lighting, customized furniture, as well as murals covering the entire facade of the building. Coming up on October 18th, Dabs Myla will be unveiling an ambitious exhibition in the stand-alone 1930 built Spanish Revival workplace building, located on the Modernica factory property in Los Angeles. The husband and wife duo will takeoff the entire space, interior and exterior, with their paintings, sculptures, installations and exclusive furnishings from limited-edition fiberglass shell chairs and hand painted ceramics to custom-built lighting installations.
