One of the venues jam-packed with goodness during Basel Week Miami was the Juxtapoz Clubhouse, a special project in conjunction between the magazine and Mana Urban Arts Project. The immersive artist retreat and exhibition space in the Wynwood District features collaborations with different artists, galleries and creatives. Encompassing two large spaces with all exclusive art on view, the event will run until December 4th. Included is a popup show by Jonathan LeVine Gallery, a pop-up store by Detroit-based printers 1xRun, the Whole Glory event from Scott Campbell and MILK Studios, a large mural by […]

AM recently stopped by the Wolfbat Studios of Dennis McNett. The Brooklyn-based artist is getting ready for his solo exhibition entitled Temple of Wolfbat at Known Gallery in Los Angeles that is set to open on November 16th. While there, we got a sneak peek of what’s to come for this big Los Angeles exhibition. From sculptures, leather etchings, wood carving, to collage paintings, McNett continues to bring us on his animalistic storytelling journey. Discuss Dennis McNett here.
Like previous years (see 2012 Dabs Myla / Skinner), Juxtapoz was asked to curate the visual art for Outside Lands in San Francisco. The annual major music and art festival in the Bay Area opened this weekend with attendees enjoying the installations, murals, and other associated projects from artists like Camille Rose Garcia (above), Mike Shine, Sam Flores, Dennis McNett, Skinner, and more. Enjoy more photos below…
Last week, MOHS Exhibit in Copenhagen presented all new work from Dennis McNett (featured) collectively entitled Wolfbats Are Real. Including wood block pieces in the standard format, the Brooklyn-based also created installations in the style of his previous shows – all paying tribute to mythical creatures that make up part of his imagery. After sharing some of the setup, we now have some fully realized opening photos for you as well below… Photo credit: Henrik Haven. Discuss Dennis McNett here.
Tonight in Copenhagen, Dennis McNett (featured) opened his latest solo show at MOHS Exhibit entitled Wolfbats Are Real. For those who know of the Brooklyn-based print installation artist, you will be familiar with him spreading the lore of his hybrid creature with exhibitions, installations, and Viking ship performances (see New York in 2010). On display for this show in Denmark will be many of the artifacts from the related events of this mythic animal and legend featuring imagery which is influenced by the early 80s skateboard and punk […]
Earlier this month Dennis McNett (featured), Swoon (interviewed) and Monica Canilao opened a brand new exhibition entitled The Folding of a Known World at Galleria Patricia Armocida. The trio of US-based artists traveled to Milan to work together on creating fresh collaborative installations filled with their signature styles and techniques. McNett sent us some photos documenting their progress as they slaved away in Italy as well as some final shots of the fruits of their labor. Check it all out after the jump.
We all hit bumps in the road, but with a little help we can all overcome any obstacles. As mentioned previously, a good friend of AM and assistant director of Joshua Liner Gallery, Tim Strazza, was unfortunately diagnosed with a Multiple Sclerosis. We helped sponsor a fundraiser created by the gallery to generate funds that went to support Tim and his medical bills. It seemed that almost everyone came out of the woodworks to donate artwork for the charity auction including a heavy rotation of […]
This Thursday, a very special art fundraiser will be held at Joshua Liner Gallery for our friend Tim Strazza who was unfortunately diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. We are helping to sponsor a benefit event where all proceeds will go to his medical bills. Some of your favorite AM artists have generously donated works for the cause which will be available via a silent auction. Online absentee bids will be available, so please contact the gallery. The art community has banded together to show their support. […]
Last Thursday night, AM was on hand for one of the most exciting openings we’ve ever experienced: Dennis Mcnett’s Reaping Waves and Vital Vessels at the Joshua Liner Gallery. We had been impressed by the individual carved wood works we had seen during our studio visit with McNett, and although those pieces were included in the show, the total was so much more than just the sum of those individual parts. In addition, he created two large-scale installations for the gallery, including one with three […]
AM paid a visit to Dennis McNett’s studio while he was finishing up work for his show Reaping Waves and Vital Vessels, opening this Thursday at Joshua Liner Gallery. The space was packed with linocut and woodcut printed paper and hand-painted wood carvings, and McNett described his grand plans for filling the entire gallery with individual works and large-scale installations assembled from the various pieces. Much of the imagery appeared highly influenced by Greek and Norse history and mythology, with representations of wolves, serpents and […]
