Openings: Dennis McNett x Swoon x Monica Canilao @ Galleria Patricia Armocida

Earlier this month Dennis McNett (featured), Swoon (interviewed) and Monica Canilao opened a brand new exhibition entitled The Folding of a Known World at Galleria Patricia Armocida. The trio of US-based artists traveled to Milan to work together on creating fresh collaborative installations filled with their signature styles and techniques. McNett sent us some photos documenting their progress as they slaved away in Italy as well as some final shots of the fruits of their labor. Check it all out after the jump.

Openings: MS Fundraiser for Tim Strazza @ Joshua Liner Gallery

We all hit bumps in the road, but with a little help we can all overcome any obstacles. As mentioned previously, a good friend of AM and assistant director of Joshua Liner Gallery, Tim Strazza, was unfortunately diagnosed with a Multiple Sclerosis. We helped sponsor a fundraiser created by the gallery to generate funds that went to support Tim and his medical bills. It seemed that almost everyone came out of the woodworks to donate artwork for the charity auction including a heavy rotation of [...]

Benefits: MS Fundraiser for Tim Strazza @ Joshua Liner Gallery

This Thursday, a very special art fundraiser will be held at Joshua Liner Gallery for our friend Tim Strazza who was unfortunately diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. We are helping to sponsor a benefit event where all proceeds will go to his medical bills. Some of your favorite AM artists have generously donated works for the cause which will be available via a silent auction. Online absentee bids will be available, so please contact the gallery. The art community has banded together to show their support. [...]

Openings: Dennis McNett – “Reaping Waves and Vital Vessels/The Passing of the Wolfbats” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Last Thursday night, AM was on hand for one of the most exciting openings we’ve ever experienced: Dennis Mcnett’s Reaping Waves and Vital Vessels at the Joshua Liner Gallery. We had been impressed by the individual carved wood works we had seen during our studio visit with McNett, and although those pieces were included in the show, the total was so much more than just the sum of those individual parts. In addition, he created two large-scale installations for the gallery, including one with three [...]

Studio Visit/Preview: Dennis McNett

AM paid a visit to Dennis McNett’s studio while he was finishing up work for his show Reaping Waves and Vital Vessels, opening this Thursday at Joshua Liner Gallery. The space was packed with linocut and woodcut printed paper and hand-painted wood carvings, and McNett described his grand plans for filling the entire gallery with individual works and large-scale installations assembled from the various pieces. Much of the imagery appeared highly influenced by Greek and Norse history and mythology, with representations of wolves, serpents and [...]

Marking it’s ten-year anniversary this winter, SCOPE is known for it’s cutting-edge slant, perfect for this trifecta of eclectic artists all at the forefront of their respective games. Openings: “Summer Group Show” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

On Saturday night, AM attended the opening for Joshua Liner Gallery’s annual “Summer Show”. Apparently, so did many of the art loving New Yorkers that turned out to pack the house. Preview: “Summer Group Show” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

August in NYC is not typically the time to see great new art, as galleries tend to schedule group shows in order not to waste their A material on the few gallery goers left in town instead of summering in the Hamptons. Past experience, however, has shown us that the Joshua Liner Gallery defies expectations with their summer show, taking the opportunity to set the stage for their upcoming season, by exhibiting a strong selection of their regular roster and introducing us to a few [...]

Openings: Barnstormers @ Joshua Liner Gallery

The beautiful weather and the promise of great art seemingly brought out all the five boroughs Thursday night for the opening of the Barnstormers show at Joshua Liner Gallery. The exhibition – which was so large that it overflowed Liner’s third floor space into an entire other gallery on the floor below – leaned toward presenting individual works from the diverse group of artists, instead of toward collaborative installations as expected. Of course, pieces by stars of the original scene such as David Ellis, Swoon, [...]

Teaser: Barnstormers @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Just recently, the Joshua Liner Gallery gave notice that they were revising their schedule to include an exciting surprise show opening March 18 by the NYC/Tokyo-based artist collective The Barnstormers. According to insider information leaked to AM from a reliable source, the collaborative group (which includes nearly everyone whose anyone in the street art and associated scene) will be creating individual pieces and site-specific installations that will likely span beyond the walls of Liner’s spacious Chelsea gallery into another gallery space in the building. This [...]
