As part of the $620 million “Dust to Gold” renovation at the Palms Casino Resort, an impressive collection ranging from blue-chip works to street art murals was acquired, commissioned, and deployed throughout the hotel. Coinciding with the Amsterdam Art Weekend, Grimm Gallery opened Dustin Yellin’s show 10Parts on November 25th. With a twenty-foot long modular glass landscape across ten panels as the showpiece, this is the American artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and will stay on view through the 7th of January. Yellin has been known for creating effective “three dimensional collages or two dimensional sculptures.” By cutting out images from magazines and placing them between glass plates, he achieves a striking effect of depth, but also creates sort […]

Coming up in February, the New York City Ballet will be collaborating with their third artist – Dustin Yellin (also see Faile & JR) – in series of special shows. Bringing sculpture into the arena of dance, the performances will feature the Brooklyn-based artist’s signature “window sandwiches” featuring the human form created out of collaged elements. The Miami Project successfully launched its second rendition during Basel week with a well-curated selection of U.S. galleries, including such notable names as Yossi Milo, Joshua Liner, Mark Moore, Richard Heller and David B. Smith. Located in the Wynwood Arts District, the young art fair focused on primary representation of emerging and mid-career artists, which was a nice counterpoint to its much larger neighbor, Art Miami. As anticipated, the highly praised “Stages” exhibition made it’s US debut yesterday in a beautiful pop-up space hosted by Deitch Projects in New York’s Soho district.
