Preview: Philip Lumbang & Ernesto Yerena – “Dead Relatives” @ Black Book Gallery

On July 9th, the Black Book gallery in Denver will welcome Philip Lumbang & Ernesto Yerena (featured) for a collaborative show entitled Dead Relatives. The two Shepard Fairey disciples meld their own unique styles – Lumbang with his animal characters and Ernesto with his Chicano inspired collage work – together for some works inspired by Day of the Dead imagery. Some weeks back, AM spent time with Ernesto Yerena Montejano at his garage studio in Los Angeles. Over the course of three and a half years, until summer 2009, Yerena worked as an artist assistant for Shepard Fairey at both Studio Number One and Studio Number Two (featured). Releases: Ernesto Yerena – “Fidel” Print

Ernesto Yerena has a new project and this time, it’s of the Cuban leader Fidel Castro. Working with our friends at Modern Multiples (featured), Ernesto is set to release another dual editioned silk screened print on Hecho Con Ganas this Thursday (Feb 4th). Openings: Winter Group Show @ White Walls

Update/Releases: “Che” Print by Ernesto Yerena

Last month we brought you a exclusive peek into Ernesto Yerena’s “Che” project and hinted at a pending print release. Well, the wait is over because this awesome image has been made into a special hand pulled silkscreen print to be released tomorrow August 26th at Hecho Con Ganas.
