Releases / Signing: Hi-Fructose Collected Edition Vol. 2 @ SFMOMA

Our friends at Hi-Fructose will be releasing their Hi-Fructose Collected Edition Vol. 2 tomorrow (November 4th, 6:30 – 8:30 pm) at the SFMOMA. There will be limited edition box sets and hardcover editions saved especially for this event, but even more exciting is that there will be an artist signing including appearances by Audrey Kawasaki, Camille Rose Garcia, Ferris Plock, Amy Sol, and Mars-1 as well as founders/editors Annie Owens and Attaboy. Openings: Hi-Fructose Five Year Anniversary Show @ Copro Gallery

Last Saturday, AM attended Copro Gallery for the anniversary of one of our favorite magazines – Hi-Fructose. Known for bringing some of the best pop surrealist art coverage for the past 5 years, Hi-Fructose curated a diverse and top notch mix of some of the best talent in the industry. Releases: Alex Pardee’s Digested Rainbow Giclee

Releasing later today is Alex Pardee’s “Digested Rainbow” giclee. “Digested Rainbow” was one of the standout pieces from his “Letters from Digested Children” show that we covered last year at FIFTY24SF. Limited to an edition of 50, the giclee comes signed and numbered and measures in at 17″ x 22″. Available sometime today through Hi-Fructose.

Releases: Hi-Fructose Vol. 14

Hi-Fructose Magazine will be releasing their next issue this coming January 2010. Cover artist Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) has an exclusive interview and sketchbook sneak peek, alongside other artists such as Skinner, Gregory Euclide, Jesse Hazelip, Van Arno, Lola and many more. Openings: Munky Bidness – San Diego Comic-Con 2009

This year’s Comic-Con saw no shortage of art-related events and after hitting up the screening of Scribble.08, AM made its way over to “Munky Bidness” put on by Munky King and Hi-Fructose. The focus of the party was a live-painting exhibition by Buff Monster and Food One, who utilized the supple bodies of some female participants as their canvases, while Attaboy, Carlos Ramos and Chris Ryniak opted for the more traditional wood surface. Openings: Todd Schorr – “American Surreal” @ San Jose Museum of Art

This past Thursday, AM took a trip down to the San Jose Museum of Art to visit Todd Schorr (interview & studio visit) and check out “Surreal Night,” a celebration of his 25 year retrospective currently on display. While there, we were able to attend the panel discussion, meet Todd, pick up a copy of his latest book, American Surreal and take some pictures of his major retrospective exhibition.
