Last night, AM attended the opening party for the South Park Art Gallery (previewed). Hosted by Comedy Central & Opera Gallery, the exhibition invited 15 artists to reinterpret their favorite character or moments from the iconic South Park animated series which is celebrating it’s 15th anniversary. Preview: “Conjoined in 3D” @ Copro Gallery

Opening tonight, January 22nd, at the Copro Gallery is a sculptural group show, entitled Conjoined, conceived in the twisted artistic mind of Chet Zar. Showing: “Phantasmagoria” @ Yves Laroche

What better way to kick off your Halloween festivities than with this group show at Yves Laroche in Montreal. “Phantasmagoria” reunites the creative minds of Chet Zar, Travis Louie (interviewed), Kathie Olivas, and Brandt Peter (interviewed) for this creepy theme show. Attendees can look forward to Chet’s nightmarish characters, Travis’ strange creatures, and Kathie / Brandt’s misfits to perhaps give them some costume ideas. More preview images after the jump…

Preview: Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters – “Living Between Worlds” @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

Husband and wife artist duo Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters (interviewed) are set to open their joint show this Friday night, April 2nd at Gallery 1988 in LA. When these two long time collaboraters are involved, expect paintings, sculptures, and some fabulous customs with their own signature imagery and characters. Last Saturday, AM attended Copro Gallery for the anniversary of one of our favorite magazines – Hi-Fructose. Known for bringing some of the best pop surrealist art coverage for the past 5 years, Hi-Fructose curated a diverse and top notch mix of some of the best talent in the industry. Openings: Hi-Fructose Group Show – “Overdose” @ Copro Gallery

“Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room. The majority of the exhibition’s body of work is displayed in the gallery’s main room. A table was set up over in the smaller wing of the gallery for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition 1 book signing. Preview: “Overdose” Hi-Fructose Group Show @ Copro Gallery

After their highly successful group show last year, Hi-Fructose is back again with another exhibition, this time titled “Overdose,” opening April 4th at Copro Gallery.  With a increasingly more respected reputation as one of the best publications in the scene, they been able to assemble a pretty amazing lineup.  Sure to be one of the showstoppers is this huge 50 x 50 inch Chris Berens piece seen above.  See some other preview pics as well as the full lineup after the jump.
