It’s been a long while since the last Instagram Roundup from the streets of East London here on AM, so we thought it was about time we gathered some photos of what’s been happening over the last five months. A favourite is definitely this great wall from Sweet Toof and Paul Insect, some wonderful painting by Conor Harrington, another visit from Sheffield artist Phlegm and new stabby women paste ups by Kid Acne and plenty more. Streets: World Roundup (March 19 – March 25)

Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. This wall, which was painted to look as if it was never there is one of many that the young artists in the area have painted over (story via Hyperallergic). Some great street art surprises have popped up around Shoreditch since the last AM London Instagram Roundup. First up, this brilliant, huge piece by the prolific Sweet Toof and CEPT at Village Underground was exceptionally nice to see. LUDO (featured) has also been getting up with his paste-ups whilst in London for his solo show Metamorphosis at High Roller Society (covered). After having a break from London, AM was very happy to return to a lot of fresh pieces. Phlegm has been painting the walls of The Foundry with his impressive comic book characters, Kid Acne has put up one of his excellent paste-ups which is especially nice, and it was also great to see that Mobstr had been out and about again with one of his thought provoking stencil messages. Last Friday, the C.A.V.E. Gallery and Brooklyn Street Art in collaboration with Thinkspace presented an exhibit titled 39 Stories: Street Art Saved My Life. The exhibit featured 39 different artists including the likes of Anthony Lister, Futura, Judith Supine, Know Hope, Faile, and Swoon to many other names familiar to AM readers. AM was in Sheffield last weekend for the official opening of Kid Acne’s three month run of the Kill Your Darlings solo exhibition at Sheffield Museum’s Millenium Gallery. The exhibition is his first solo show in his now-base of Sheffield, and as it’s hard to walk around the city without catching a glimpse of his outdoor murals and graffiti, it made a nice change to see some of his work in an indoor setting in South Yorks. AM’s regular Instagrammer SazaJane is taking a break this week from her London street art round-up, so as we were in Sheffield this weekend for Kid Acne’s opening, we bring you a northern version. We checked out some of the classic Acne slogan based murals that make up part of the Sheffield scenery, along with pieces, throwies and tags by Ema, D-Rot, Phlegm, Motfu, Dscreet and Osk amongst others. South Yorks represent! Kid Acne’s solo exhibition Kill Your Darlings launches this Friday 22nd July at Museums-Sheffield’s Millenium Gallery. A long time resident of Sheffield, this is surprisingly Kid Acne’s first solo exhibit in the city, and follows a pair of solo exhibitions in London at Concrete Hermit and Stolenspace over the last year. The intriguing title alludes to a motto first coined by William Faulkner, and used by writers to describe the action of cutting the most cherished characters and scenes from their story. [...]

Kid Acne’s latest solo exhibition kicked off this week at StolenSpace and AM went along to see the work for ourselves at the opening on Thursday evening. We called in to see Mr. Acne earlier this month at his studio in Sheffield as he was putting the work together, but he still managed to pull out a host of surprises for us, not least in the centre-piece installation for Rhythm is a Dancer. Kid Acne has a solo show opening on 31st March at London’s StolenSpace Gallery entitled Rhythm is a Dancer which we at AM have been anticipating for a while.
