Charity: Lucy McLauchlan Auction for Sound It Out

Lucy McLauchlan just set up an installation at 48Sheet Gallery in Birmingham to benefit Sound It Out: a charity that strives to bring support and opportunities in music to deprived people in Birmingham and the West Midlands. This is part of the Tambourine Project in which artists and celebrities (which includes Ricky Gervais, Raymond Briggs, Helen Mirren, Stephen Fry, Eric Clapton and Log Roper) were asked to doodle on the instrument and have them auctioned off on Ebay (listings can be seen: here). The exhibition [...]

Openings: Lazarides Minotaur Event @ The Old Vic Tunnels

A couple nights ago, the Minotaur event put on by Lazarides kicked off at the The Old Vic Tunnels, also the site of 2010′s Hell’s Half Acre exhibition. This time around, the theme was an old Greek legend and depending on your choice for price of admission, dining was included from top Michelin-starred chefs. Of course for us, the art was the focus of the night including offerings from Stanley Donwood, Jonathan Yeo, Antony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Doug Foster, 3D, Ian Francis, ATMA, Michael Najjar [...]

Nuart Festival ’11: Lucy McLauchlan

One misty morning in Norway, we hiked over to the Obrestad Lighthouse to check out the intricate workings of Lucy McLauchlan. Painting the walls with her signature motifs (also seen in her solo at Lazarides in 2010), the UK-based artist covered the entire tower in doing her part for this year’s Nuart Festival. More photos of the lighthouse and other murals taken by Henrik Haven after the jump…

Videos / Teaser: Lazarides Minotaur Event @ The Old Vic Tunnels

Perhaps influenced by the pop-up restaurant The Tree House (see video above) in Frankfurt for which he presumably curated the artwork for, Lazarides will be bringing the PRET A DINER concept in for his newest project in London. During Frieze and the London Restaurant Festival, from October 10 – 25, the gallery will be organizing a show and pop-up fine dining experience in The Old Vic Tunnels, site of 2010′s Hell’s Half Acre exhibition. Preparing the food will be top Michelin-starred chefs Nuno Mendes (Viajante, London), [...]

Streets: Erica Il Cane & Lucy McLauchlan in Lisbon

After another wildly successful Fame Festival this year under his belt, Angelo Milano headed down to Lisbon for Part II of the CRONO project (see Part I with Os Gemeos, Blu, and Sam3). This time, Erica Il Cane & Lucy McLauchlan were on hand to work on a collaboration piece (you can see the Sam3 piece peeking out on the left). Take a closer look after the jump courtesy of Stick2target.

Openings / Streets: FAME Festival 2010

For the last two years, there’s only one place even the most half-hearted of street art fan should be in September and that’s the picturesque town of Grottaglie, in the foot of Italy, and this year is no exception as the town again provides the canvas for curator Angelo Milano’s FAME Festival. As with previous years, Angelo has invited a stylistically and geographically diverse selection of renowned and, at least for now, less recognized artists to decorate the walls of his hometown as they see [...]

Openings: Lucy McLauchlan – “Together…” @ Lazarides

Lucy McLauchlan’s latest solo show “Together…” is currently gracing the walls of the Rathbone Place gallery of Lazarides, and last week AM went along to the opening night to see the new body of work. McLauchlan has put together some intriguing installations around her work in the past and this element was probably the part of the show we were looking forward to seeing the most. Lucy brought a collection of junk items to the gallery comprising of paint cans, cassette tapes, discarded bottles and [...]

FAME Festival – A Tour Through the Monastery

After months of following the goings on at Italy’s FAME Fest (see our coverage here), AM decided to take a trip to Grottaglie to find out if all those pieces were really as incredible as they appeared. Let’s just say that we were far from disappointed. From the murals painted within the ancient monastery and on the walls around town to the fantastic private preview dinner and packed opening night reception showcasing work from all the artists, FAME is every street art fan’s dream come true. [...]

FAME Festival: Lucy Mclauchlan Video

A video of Lucy Mclauchlan working on her mural for this year’s FAME Festival has just been uploaded. With the nicely put together time-lapse, we can really see up close how much detail was put into this piece. Check out more coverage of this year’s festival in Italy here. Discuss the FAME Festival here.

FAME Festival: Lucy Mclauchlan

Lucy Mclauchlan made her mark on the town of Grottaglie with her art deco-like motifs as part of the FAME Festival, bringing out the cherry picker and scaffolding to throw up the massive mural seen above. Impressed by the ceramic pieces that Conor Harrington (interviewed) produced, Lucy joined in on the fun as well. See her distinctive ceramic works after the jump…
