Mars-1 x David Choong Lee, Damon Soule, & Oliver Vernon – “Symbiosis Eclipse” Painting

Apparently, the staff at AM were not the only ones squinting their eyes trying to catch a glimpse of the solar eclipse several days ago. Members of the Further Collective, Mars-1, Damon Soule, and Oliver Vernon, who only recently collaborated on a large mural in Arizona (covered) got together for round two – this time welcoming another painter in the crew to participate as well – David Choong Lee. The symbiotic piece, which was completed at Pyramid Lake, looks like if was inspired by the [...]

Mars-1, Oliver Vernon, & Damon Soule Mural (Arizona)

Not new to mind-blowing collaborations (see 2010), three members of the Further Collective got together for another mural in Arizona. Painted at the Flagstaff Brewing Company, friends Mars-1, Oliver Vernon, and Damon Soule each added their ingredients to the organic brew resulting in a vibrant, kinetic, and large piece for the public to enjoy.  Here’s hoping they get together for more projects in the future. Streets: Mars-1 (San Francisco)

For fans of the recent more monochromatic aspects of Mars-1′s (featured) oeuvre, this new mural he painted in San Francisco should get them going. The otherworldly and organic nature of his work has become recognizable as part of the local painter’s signature imagery with certain pieces executed in a more minimalistic fashion – like the one seen here but on a much larger scale. Painted over several days on the side of the Phoenix Hotel and arranged through Wallspace SF, Mr. Martinez has added another beautiful [...]

Releases: Mars-1 “Ween” Posters

We recently got wind of a new print release from Mars-1 when we spied this photo of the process last week. The limited editions were created for the recent Ween New Year’s Eve concert in Denver and came in several variants and are based on an imagery of his more minimalistic work, most recently seen in his show in San Francisco (covered). Photos of the two variants still available after the jump…

Openings: Mars-1 – “Everything Under The Sun” @ Fecal Face Dot Gallery

Mars-1 opened up his show, Everything Under The Sun (previewed) to a packed house at Fecal Face Dot Gallery’s temporary space in the inner Richmond area of San Francisco Saturday night (the gallery’s usual spot is under renovation due to a fire at a neighboring building). The show included a few large scale paintings, including a tondo continuing his eye boggling Infinite Tapestry series. The centerpiece of the show was a sculpture installation filled with extra extraterrestrial creatures and landscapes that would seem to dwell [...]

Videos / Preview: Mars-1 – “Everything Under The Sun” @ Fecal Face Dot Gallery

Tonight in San Francisco, Mars-1′s (featured) will be taking over the temporary Fecal Face Dot Gallery’s space (248 Clement St. @4th Ave) with a new collection of organic paintings as well as a installation of his intriguing sculptural work collectively entitled Everything Under The Sun.
