Openings: Mars-1 @ Billy Shire Fine Arts

AM stopped by Billy Shire Fine Arts to catch Mars-1’s latest show. Hot off his last show “Nuclear Mystics” at Jonathan LeVine Gallery, Mars-1 continued his direction of creating larger pieces that capture the grand-scale feeling his imagery evokes. Openings: Hi-Fructose Group Show – “Overdose” @ Copro Gallery

“Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room. The majority of the exhibition’s body of work is displayed in the gallery’s main room. A table was set up over in the smaller wing of the gallery for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition 1 book signing. Preview: “Overdose” Hi-Fructose Group Show @ Copro Gallery

After their highly successful group show last year, Hi-Fructose is back again with another exhibition, this time titled “Overdose,” opening April 4th at Copro Gallery.  With a increasingly more respected reputation as one of the best publications in the scene, they been able to assemble a pretty amazing lineup.  Sure to be one of the showstoppers is this huge 50 x 50 inch Chris Berens piece seen above.  See some other preview pics as well as the full lineup after the jump.

AM was on hand for a special preview night last Friday to witness the opening of two enticing shows at Jonathan Levine Gallery. Many of New York’s art scene, including Tara McPherson, David Choe, Esao Andrews, Adam Wallacavage, Sara Tecchia, Joshua Liner, and Travis Louie, came out to support the show. Emanuel Perrotin x Pharrell + Beautiful/Decay Basel Parties

Night time at Basel week is where the heavy wheeling and dealing occurs. Galleries and sponsors line up numerous parties for prospective clients. Thursday night was a doubleheader for AM. First stop was the Beautiful/Decay party at the Essex House. Lots of mingling occuring as we met up with the crew from Obey, Cerasoli LeBasse, and White Walls/Shooting Gallery. Mars-1 x Faesthetic

How appropriate it is that Mars-1‘s work would grace the cover of Faesthetic #9 seeing as this issue features UFO themed art. Mario’s otherworldly paintings have always conjured up visions of undiscovered planets and new vibrant lifeforms.
