When The Vader Project rolls into Los Angeles tonight, June 11th, it will be at the end of a long four year journey. A late reminder for all our readers in the SF area. Tonight, Damon Soule opens a new show at the famed Bay Area art portal’s gallery – Fecal Face Dot Gallery. Unlike his last solo show, which was held at Thinkspace (covered), for this new body of work will include collaborations with Mars-1 (featured), David Choong Lee, and Oliver Vernon – something that crew has been experimenting with. This Thursday, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will host an exclusive signing event for the art book “Further,” featuring the work of Damon Soule, David Choong Lee, MARS-1, Nome Edonna, Oliver Vernon, Robert Hardgrave and Tomokazu Matsuyama. Earlier this week, AM had the pleasure of visiting the San Francisco studio of artist Mars-1 as he was putting the finishing touches on his latest pieces, debuting this weekend (teased). The new body of work features a few of Mario’s newer (stylistically speaking) black and white pieces, as well as a massive canvas showcasing his signature transcendental style. Mario Martinez aka Mars-1, whom we last saw at his Billy Shire show last May, will be opening up a new show at the Meta Gallery in Toronto next Friday, April 2nd. It looks as though he may continuing to explore more muted works with black backgrounds like the piece we saw at Josh Liners’ Further group show a while back. Saturday night, AM had the pleasure of attending the openings of two exciting new shows at Chelsea’s Joshua Liner Gallery. Tomorrow night, the Joshua Liner Gallery will host “Further,” a group exhibition featuring works by artists Damon Soule, David Choong Lee, MARS-1, Nome Edonna, Oliver Vernon, Robert Hardgrave and Tomokazu Matsuyama. The exhibition coincides with the release of a new book of the same name that brings together the seven artists and their varied takes on contemporary abstraction, mysticism, futurism, and surrealism.
