Starting on April 11th, Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station will be the next location to host KAWS’ 16-feet-tall COMPANION (PASSING THROUGH) sculpture. Showing: Daniel Arsham – “Reach Ruin” @ Fabric Workshop and Museum

Daniel Arsham’s exhibition, Reach Ruin, recently opened at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia where he was the artist-in-residence. Arsham, who is also one-half of design studio Snarkitecture (a partnership with Alex Mustonen) was inspired by his experiences with Hurricane Andrew as a youngster (the show’s title is an anagram for the word hurricane) to create a series of works that speak to the fragility of architecture in the face of the destructive power of nature. Streets: How & Nosm (Philadelphia)

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of watching How & Nosm as they completed a large wall on the LA Weekly building in Los Angeles. Now, the Spanish twins recently completed a new mural in Philadelphia (South 13th Street and Sansom Street) entitled Personal Melody. The New York-based duo initially used a 80′ boom lift that couldn’t reach the top, but with the delivery of a 125′ lift, the mural was able to be completed in just two days. Photos via Graffuturism. Preview: Adam Wallacavage – “Shiny Monsters” @ Philadelphia Art Alliance

On May 17th, the Philadelphia Art Alliance will host the opening reception for Adam Wallacavage’s (interviewed) Shiny Monsters. By hanging several new chandeliers within each gallery of the craft and design showspace, the eclectic sculptor will be introducing his hometown to his gothic-surreal lighting ornamentation. With the opening booked for April 7th, the Tropico Post – Apocalyptic group exhibition artists will be filling the Extra Extra Gallery in Philadelphia with their work soon. When we were in Philly to check out Steve “ESPO ICY” Powers’ amazing “Love Letter” mural project (covered), we stopped by his center city headquarters to chat with the man himself and get a behind-the-scenes look at his work and creative process. Events: ESPO’s Love Letter Tattoo Shop

Would you like to receive a permanent love letter from ESPO? If so, you’re in luck. In celebration of the release of a book documenting his public art project Love Letter in Philadelphia, the infamous Steve Powers will be taking over a tattoo shop for a week in early February and having the artists there only ink his art.
