Detroit Beautification Project

A project that was first hinted at here appears to have come to fruition in the Motor City. We have already shared works from Sever and Reyes for the Detroit Beautification Project, but now we have a closer look at the multitude of artists (many of them MSK affiliated) and the murals they painted centered mostly in Hamtramck. Releases: REVOK – “Sacrilege” Print

It look like 1xRUN has great new series of prints planned that go towards funding The Detroit Beautification Project (also supported by Montana Cans and The Seventh Letter) which will bring over a dozen of the world’s premier graffiti artists into the city for a series of murals in the neighborhoods that need them the most. Openings: “Hookers” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery played host to the opening of the Natalia Fabia (interviewed) curated show Hookers. With the theme in mind, her artist friends including Kent Williams, Michael Hussar, Phil Hale, Erik Sandberg, Saber, REVOK, and more created pieces for the show that showed a diversity of mediums and range of artistic vision. Streets: World Roundup (Feb 6 – Feb 12)

This week’s featured wall for our street art roundup from around the world is a sweet collaborative piece between Austrian artist Nychos and the German-based old school legend Flying Fortress. This mother bear mural was created when Mr. Fortress stopped by Vienna for a visit and if you are interested, you can see more footage in a video here.
