Openings: “Wider than a postcard” & olive47 – “bonita bonita” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. Openings: José & Rey Parlá – “U.T.O.P.I.A.” @ colette

Parisian house colette in France just opened the eagerly awaited new exhibition titled U.T.O.P.I.A. (previewed) featuring new collaborative works from the Parlá Brothers. The Brooklyn-based siblings placed a series of paintings on the walls featuring a melding of José’s urban calligraphy and Rey’s playful arrangement of colors and lines as evidence of their artistic dialogue. Last week, we broke news about the Brothers Parlá and their tandem show entitled U.T.O.P.I.A at colette in France. The Parisian hub for fashion, lifestyle, and art will feature a fresh new body of work from siblings José & Rey. Upcoming: José & Rey Parlá – “U.T.O.P.I.A.” @ colette

On September 3rd, the Parlá Brothers (José & Rey) will be presenting a new show in Paris at colette entitled U.T.O.P.I.A. The Brooklyn-based artists will be presenting a collaborative effort with José’s specialty being drawing and painting, while Rey is known for his photographs. It will be interesting to see how they plan to fuse their two artistic repertoires in this new body of work. Discuss José Parlá here.

For the third year, Miami’s OHWOW put on its annual Art Basel Week group exhibition, entitled It Ain’t Fair, which is always a welcome respite from the cubicled craziness of Basel and the other fairs. Last night, AM attended the opening of “The New Grand Tour” at the fresh gallery space of Bryce Wolkowitz (previewed). With a lineup of Deanne Cheuk, Jose Parla, Rey Parla, Davi Russo, Romon Kimin Yang (Rostarr) and Suitman a.k.a.
