Tomorrow night, September 23rd, marks the opening of the Sink or Swim benefit show for PangeaSeed, a grassroots organization based in Japan dedicated to educating and raising international awareness on the plight of sharks and the destruction of their habitat. Opening tonight, September 30th, at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles will be a new series of seven paintings from Roland Tamayo (interviewed). Showing alongside Ben Strawn in a joint show is entitled “With Ease”, Roland will be showing paintings with his signature nature / technology juxtapositions. AM met up recently with Roland Tamayo (interviewed) at the opening of “Whispers,” a four person group show at Gallery 1988 in SF. He graciously showed us his new body of work with his signature marine life hybrids, this time painted on a white background. Los Angeles-based artist and AM friend Roland Tamayo is set to open his part of a four-person show at Gallery 1988 in SF this Friday night, February 5th (7-10pm).
