Upcoming: Jeff Koons @ Gagosian Gallery (Beverly Hills)

Returning to the Gagosian space in Beverly Hills where he last exhibited in 2009 (covered), Jeff Koons will be opening a new exhibition there on December 7th. Although he is know mostly for his larger than life sculptures, the last time he showed at the gallery, he brought with him bold new paintings. This time around may see him return to more three-dimensional works as a teaser image of his Coloring Book (1997–2005) sculpture has been posted up. Photo credit: Kenzo* Discuss Jeff Koons here.

With various members of AM heading to Basel Week Miami as we speak, we’ll continue to preview some of the art that we will be checking out later this week. Last night, AM stopped by the private opening of Cyrcle.’s new solo show titled Organized Chaos! Taking place in Los Angeles, this new exhibition by the two-man collective focuses on the central idea of the cube and the way in which bees and flowers relate to society as a whole. Basel Week Miami ’12 / Preview: Jen Stark @ The Miami Project / Cooper Cole

Another thing to add to the list to visit next week during Basel Week Miami is the Cooper Cole booth at The Miami Project (which appears to be a new fair this year). Jen Stark, who showed with the Toronto gallery (covered) last year (as well as in Los Angeles recently), will be presenting two new holographic pedestals, a variation on her cut paper sculptures. Recently, the James Cohan Gallery hosted Trenton Doyle Hancock‘s show, appropriately titled …And Then It All Came Back To Me. This is an incredible body of work, and as timing sometimes goes, brought out the ‘best of the best’ in the post Sandy NYC Chelsea arts district. Last weekend, AM stopped by San Francisco’s Guerrero Gallery to check out opening of Lamplighter to the Promised Land that features AJ Fosik’s latest wooden sculptures. We visited Fosik a few weeks back at his Portland studio while he was preparing for the show (which can be viewed here). With this exhibition, he created sculptures to portray creatures in a glorified manner that challenges the concept of belief as a virtue – in other words, they are trippy/bad-ass beasts. Doktor A – “Postcard from New Yorkshire” @ MPH

From his beginnings as one of the most highly sought after art toy customizers out there, the UK-based Doktor A has progressed to producing his own sculptural creations, which was only natural if anyone has ever seen his work. For his recent showing in New York at My Plastic Heart, entitled Postcard from New Yorkshire, his full talents were on display with figures created in his robotic steampunk aesthetic with a fine attention to detail. Preview: Kozyndan – “Breaking Circles, Broken Light” @ Narwhal Gallery

On Friday night (November 16th), Kozyndan will be returning to Canada for an exhibition entitled Breaking Circles, Broken Light at the Narwhal Gallery in Toronto. Included in the exhibition are 25 paintings, 6 ceramic sculptures and 3 resin sculptures all based on various endangered animals in a more experimental show for the husband and wife duo where they try all kinds of new mediums.
