Openings: STASH – “Sprayed In Full” @ The Seventh Letter

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to attend the opening of a show from New York graffiti legend STASH (featured). Entitled Sprayed In Full and held at The Seventh Letter gallery in Los Angeles, the exhibition featured a series of works on canvas and paper featuring the same abstract splatter, inspired by elements of graffiti that have made him a wanted man for collaborations with streetwear and fashion companies (as evidenced by a new shoe design from Reebok – also one of the sponsors of the show). Discuss Stash […]

Studio Visits: STASH – “Cap Indicates Color” @ Sports Lab (Atmos)

AM recently had the pleasure of visiting a legend in the New York Graffiti scene – STASH. Long known for his bold outlines and clean shapes, the bomber is in Tokyo for a fresh exhibition. Entitled Cap Indicates Color, the new series of works explores some of the iconic spray cap motif & splatter that he made popular in with his visual language. This show opens at ATMOS’ Sports Lab Feb 9th at 7:30pm with the artist in attendance. It was a trip down memory lane […]

Streets: Futura (New York)

It’s nice to see street legend Futura active in New York again. The last time we saw him hit up his home city, he was creating an epic collaboration piece with Os Gemeos at a Chelsea public school (P.S. 11). This time, he’s working in his spirographic abstractions on this wall in Brooklyn adjacent to work from his friends Stash and Wane. More photos after the jump…

Openings: Mark Dean Veca – “As Cold As They Come” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Continuing with our coverage of Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s massive kick off of the new art season, AM brings you Mark Dean Veca’s “As Cold As They Come.” This psychedelic body of work continues where his last show “Paintings, Wall Drawings, and Collaborations” left off (covered/interviewed). At the center is “Popeyeconography,” which is a series based on the classic Popeye cartoon. It was great to see Brutus, Olive Oyl, Wimpy and Swee’ Pea redone under Mark’s surreal biomorphic style. He even had time to sneak in […]
