It’s nice to see street legend Futura active in New York again. The last time we saw him hit up his home city, he was creating an epic collaboration piece with Os Gemeos at a Chelsea public school (P.S. 11). This time, he’s working in his spirographic abstractions on this wall in Brooklyn adjacent to work from his friends Stash and Wane. More photos after the jump…

3D Art Book Signing @ Opera Gallery

AM recently attended a special signing party for the 3D Art Book (previewed) hosted at the Opera Gallery in New York. Many of the contributors such as Tristan Eaton, Eric White, Haze, Esao Andrews, Tara McPherson, Erik Foss, Andrew Bell, Stephen Bliss, Kevin Bourgeois, Filth, Kenzo Minami, Mint, Serf, Dr. Revolt and Tom Thewes were in attendance, signing and drawing for the droves of fans who came out to support their favorite artists. When we heard about an exhibition that was to be curated by Elms Lester at the prestigious Atkinson Gallery in Somerset, it definitely stoked our interest. Continuing with our coverage of Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s massive kick off of the new art season, AM brings you Mark Dean Veca’s “As Cold As They Come.” This psychedelic body of work continues where his last show “Paintings, Wall Drawings, and Collaborations” left off (covered/interviewed). The motorcycle culture themedÂ â€œCeleritasâ€Â show (previewed) and silent auction held last weekend atÂ SURU in Los AngelesÂ was a huge success, raising $66,000 forÂ Riders for Health, a non-profit that funds the transportation of medical personnel to remote communities in Africa. The centerpiece of the show was a 2009 Suzuki Hayabusa customized by Barry McGee coupled with a mannequin draped in styling Darren Romanelli fashioned motorcycle leathers.
