Previews: “LAX / ORD” @ Vertical Gallery

Continuing their series of curatorial group shows, Thinkspace will be bringing their roster of artists to Chicago on September 3rd at Vertical Gallery. Like previous iterations, the show is titled after the airports of Los Angeles, where the gallery is based and the location where they are visiting – LAX / ORD. At the beginning of the month, Spoke Art in San Francisco introduced new works from Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) in her first solo in four years. Entitled Stranger, the very floral new body of work encompassed many different mediums including oil paintings, loosely rendered watercolor, india ink sketches, as well as sculpture. On October 1st, Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) will be opening her first solo show in four years at Spoke Art in San Francisco. Entitled Stranger, the new selection of paintings continues the current uplifting direction of her work and promises to feature her female subjects surrounding by a lot of flowers. On March 5th, Hellion Gallery’s Portland location will be opening a group exhibition featuring works created on small wooden plaques called “Ema” on which Shinto worshipers write their prayers or wishes.
