This Saturday evening (November 10th), Thinkspace Gallery will be opening a group show featuring Audrey Kawasaki, Atsuko Goto, Fuco Ueda, (seen above), Jolene Lai, and Stella Im Hultberg. Upcoming: Stella Im Hultberg – “Mago” @ Spoke Art (SF)

Following up on her solo there in 2015 (covered), Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) will be opening a show at  Spoke Art in San Francisco this Thursday, August 31st. Entitled Mago, the new body of work from the Portland-based artist includes paintings and drawings that explore her Korean heritage, traditional folk stories, and her experiences with having a child. The name of the exhibition is taken from the mother of mothers and root of creation in Korean mythology, something that resonates with Stella as a mother and an artist. Available […]

A couple of weekends ago, Thinkspace hosted Stella Im Hultberg’s (interviewed) new show in their project room concurrently with Audrey Kawasaki’s solo in the main space. Stella’s new pieces, collectively entitled Hollow Resonance including several acrylic on wood paintings as well as some looser pieces combining ink, watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencils. Showing concurrently with Audrey Kawasaki’s solo tonight at Thinkspace will be Stella Im Hultberg’s (interviewed) Hollow Resonance in the Culver City gallery’s project room. Hultberg’s new body of work include both acrylic on wood paintings as well as some looser pieces combining ink, watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencils. Expanding on her use of flowers in her compositions of late, the Portland-based artist has surrounded her pensive women with a bountiful supply of blooms and petals. Previews: “LAX / ORD” @ Vertical Gallery

Continuing their series of curatorial group shows, Thinkspace will be bringing their roster of artists to Chicago on September 3rd at Vertical Gallery. Like previous iterations, the show is titled after the airports of Los Angeles, where the gallery is based and the location where they are visiting – LAX / ORD. If you attended any of the previous Supersonic Invitational shows, you know you’re in for a treat. At the beginning of the month, Spoke Art in San Francisco introduced new works from Stella Im Hultberg (interviewed) in her first solo in four years.
