Openings: Supakitch – “Clé De Soul” @ Galerie LJ

Brooklyn-based French artist Supakitch recently returned to his home country to open his new show at Paris’ Galerie LJ. The exhibition entitled Clé De Soul is Supa’s first with the gallery, and includes a beautiful collection of his colorful paintings, works on paper and mixed-media pieces. Check out a video tour of the show, pictures from the opening, as well as a new video of a wall painting by Supa and his talented wife Koralie, all after the jump.

Showing: Supakitch – “Based on a True Story” @ Muriel Guepin

We recently went by Muriel Guepin Gallery to check out French-born, Brooklyn-based artist Supakitch’s (featured) first major NYC exhibition, entitled Based on a True Story, which is up through the end of July. For the show, Supa presented mostly new paintings on canvas and works on handmade paper that featured his characteristic bold colors, fine line-work and music-inspired compositions. Although Supa’s stylized animal characters were still present in these pieces, they were more subtle and abstracted than usual. For example, one of the most eye-catching […]

Preview: Supakitch – Based on a True Story @ Muriel Guepin

Opening this Thursday June 9th at Brooklyn’s Muriel Guepin Gallery is Based on a True Story, a show featuring the work of Supakitch, along with Japanese artist Tamiko Kawata. As we’ve previously shown during our visit to his studio, Supa’s art is a colorful and energetic mix of street art, manga and hip-hop, which often focuses on the visual depiction of sound and music. He has shown extensively around the world, however, this is his first major NYC exhibition since relocating to Brooklyn, so we’re […]

Studio Visit: Supakitch

AM caught up with French-born, Brooklyn-based artist Supakitch at his studio and got a sneak peek of a large new body of work slated for his solo show entitled I Was Born to Be Different, opening in mid-December at Galerie Elegance in Taiwan. Supa is an artistic jack of all trades—painter, print-maker, fashion-designer and tattoo artist. He easily switches between mediums, and even more impressive, mixes them with his love of DJ/hip-hop music and Japanese manga & anime, into his own coherent and unique aesthetic, […]

Supakitch & Koralie mural @ Varldskultur Museum, Gothenburg

AM friends and super French art duo Supakitch and Koralie were recently in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the set-up and opening of “Kimono Fusion,” an exhibition of Japanese fashion mixed with pop, street and graffiti culture at the Varldskultur (World Culture) Museum. In addition to having work in the show, the two spent a few days creating an amazing mural, documented in the video above. Check it out, as well as some still shots from Kimono Fusion after the jump.

Releases: Supakitch – “Supamoto” @ Pigment Editions

Dropping 1pm Eastern today at Pigment Editions is a sick new print by our Gallic homeboy Supakitch. The 18 x 24″ print, entitled “Supamoto,” is no giclee, ink-jet, rolled-out in mass quantities. Instead,  it’s truly a love-labored collaboration between artist and master printer – using only the best homemade archival inks on nice thick paper. And the run is tiny, with only 20 of the limited yellow version, and a mere 2 of the super-limited special blue version. Check out more pics, including details of […]
