Auctions / Benefits: “MTV RE:DEFINE” Results

A couple Saturdays ago, the inaugural MTV RE:DEFINE benefit exhibition and auction opened at the Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas. As we previewed a couple weeks back, curators, The Future Tense, brought together an impressive roster of 30 emerging and established artists in the contemporary and urban/street art genres  – including such big names as Damien Hirst, Shepard Fairey, Harland Miller, Faile, Russell Young and Tracey Emin – to commemorate 30 years of AIDS research. Highlights: The Affordable Art Fair, London

The Affordable Art Fair was in London at Battersea Park last week, with no piece on display exceeding the cap of £4,000. We like the fair’s aim of making contemporary art accessible to everyone. Many others clearly appreciate the concept as well, since the AAF is now in its thirteenth year. It’s also become international: fairs were held in February in Milan and Brussels, and the next ones are scheduled for May in New York, Amsterdam and Bristol, with an affiliate event also taking place […]

Openings: “The Future Tense” @ Future Gallery

We recently brought you a preview for “The Future Tense” held last week at the Future Gallery in London, where we focused on the art of Icelandic artist Katrin Fridriks. Well, AM sadly couldn’t make it to the show ourselves, but Ed of TFT sent us along a great set of pictures of the installed art and also from the opening event. It looks as a good night was had by all, and for an inaugural exhibition, it also looks as the event was well […]

Preview: “The Future Tense” @ The Future Gallery, London

The Future Tense launches itself in London this week with a showing of represented artists Katrin Fridriks, Lee Baker, Mark Webber, Tom Oldham, Joseph Loughborough, Jamie Shaw and Louis Hudson. We particularly like the look of Katrin Fridriks’ work, pictured above. The Icelandic artist currently lives and works in Paris where she composes her abstract explosions of colour using an almost perfect balance of order and refinement complimenting the chaos and urgency seen within her work. The official opening takes place on Wednesday 26th May, […]
