Interviews/Releases: Dale Marshall – ‘Vacant Hero’ Print

Dale Marshall originally started painting graffiti under the name Vermin in the early 1990s and he was a founding member of Bristol’s Souls On Fire crew, who were known for their visceral and heretical style. However, as the decade was coming to an end, his life was spiraling increasingly out of control because of heavy drug use and a resulting mental breakdown which resulted in him being sectioned in a Cornish psychiatric hospital, all of which Marshall has been very open about. Since switching to producing […]

Showing: Dale vN Marshall – “Walls With Wounds” @ Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

On Saturday, the 15th of February, Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry, opened a solo show entitled Walls With Wounds by Dale vN Marshall. This is a landmark exhibition for the Wales-based contemporary fine artist that was formerly known as the graffiti artist Vermin on the streets of his hometown of Bath and Bristol. The works for this exhibition are inspired by the crumbling walls of his former Victorian studio, as well as his time in one of Britain’s oldest asylums, and also contain elements of his graffiti background. This complexity of influences […]

Previews: Dale “Vn” Marshall – “Room 101″

The artist, who also goes by the names Vn and Vermin, is open about his history of mental health issues. The duality of the artist and the exhibition echoes Marshall’s […]

Streets: Vermin & Jago – Moon Street Mural

We were impressed by this recent collaborative mural on Moon Street in Bristol, put together by Mr Jago and Vermin when we saw these pictures of the wall coming together from Mike Dring of Art-El. The two artists had not met before the planned day of painting, but they seemed to hit things off with this well composed and cohesive piece, which blends their styles with great effect – just check out some of the 3D details they achieved. More flicks and a video after […]
