Buy low, sell high… guess Steve Lazarides sees the recent economic downturn as an opportunity to make some moves. The marquee urban art gallery from London has been busy in 2009. Last month Laz transformed their Greek street location into a shop with a more accessible price point and stocked it with plenty of quality artwork under £5,000.
Now Lazarides is making his move on the high end – a luxurious new flagship gallery, “Rathbone Place,” will be opening its doors on May 15th. This newly renovated five story location was once a “brothel and drinking place” and will now house the Laz corporate offices and artist studios in addition to the high-end gallery space.
The gallery’s premier show will be the next installment of Laz’s cornerstone, “Outsiders.” This show will feature brand new work from Antony Micallef, Bast, Conor Harrington, David Choe, Faile, Jonathan Yeo, JR and Vhils just to name a few.
Check out the Antony Micallef piece for the show after the jump.
Rathbone Place is located at 11 Rathbone Place, London W1T 1HR.
