Although in Miami for his now open show (covered), Vhils (interviewed) also has something going on for his fans at home. Tomorrow, December 5th at 4pm GMT, the Lisbon-based artist will be releasing some editions through the Underdogs Gallery webstore that celebrates one of his favorite public artworks (which has now been demolished) in the capital city. Tomorrow (November 30th) is the public opening of Ethereal at Goldman Global Arts in Miami, Vhils’ (interviewed) latest solo show. Timed perfectly to coincide with this year’s Basel Week Miami, the debut solo exhibition for the gallery inside The Wynwood Walls will highlight the Portuguese artist’s unique mark-making as well as his skills with multiple techniques and mediums. Upcoming: Festival Iminente 2018, London

After a successful third edition in Lisbon back in September, Festival Iminente will be coming back to London’s Old Truman Brewery for the second time between the 19th and 21st of October. The organizers of the popular Festival Iminente in Lisbon have teamed up with Amnesty International for their ongoing Brave Walls project. Using the recognition of the event to address important issues, their most recent effort resulted in a new mural by Vhils (interviewed), demanding justice for Brazilian human rights defender Marielle Franco. Between 8th of July and 9th of September 2018 a series of six individual exhibitions will be on view in Macao, organized as a part of the annual art exhibition program between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries. Streets: Vhils – “Caniçada Dam Project” (Portugal)

Recently at the in Caniçada Dam in Northern Portugal, Vhils (interviewed) completed a striking new mural chiseled directly into the face of the water barrier. Created through EDP’s program of beautifying Portuguese dams with art and architecture, the new piece utilizing the Lisbon-based artist’s unique mark-making abilities features a “face inspired by the workers who gave their body and soul to the building of the dam, surrounded by a group of children and tree elements.” Take a look at more photos below… Photo credit: EDP & Pedro Santasmarinas […]

Following up on our sharing of murals, interventions, and print releases related to the Splash And Burn initiative (started by artist Ernest Zacharevic) in Sumatra, we now have photos of the latest mural completed Vhils.
