“Copesetic” is the name of Dain’s first ever solo show at the Brooklynite Gallery. It means “fine and dandy,” a throwback term from the early 1940’s. When Brooklynite released the preview video for the show (here), it seemed hilarious and appropriate for the “old school” themed show. Little did we know that Rae and Hope of Brooklynite were going to literally transform the ENTIRE gallery into a replica New York “Speakeasy” complete with crystal chandeliers, floor to ceiling wall paper, and even transforming their outdoor area into a dance hall with a real life big band.

The rainy night was a non-factor as the art and environment set the mood for a festive evening. The main feature was of course Dain’s work. His signature urban works were seen at the best street spots all over New York this year, yet this is his first major show of the year. His collage of classy dames from the first half of the 1900’s were well received by the fans in attendance on Saturday night.
