Baby Tattooville‘s Secret Society was taken into Travis Louie‘s gorgeously illustrated Victorian and Edwardian world of human oddities and mythical beings with “strange grooming habits” for one weekend. What was even better was that lucky attendees this year were able to take home the experience with a original portrait by the man himself. Yes, not just a print, not just an ordinary multiple, but a unique, hand-drawn piece of art that you may have witnessed with your own eyes created in person.
More after the jump…
Travis Louie created 50 drawings, which he worked on throughout the weekend at Baby Tattooville. The Creature Parade included many familiar faces which you may have seen inhabiting the artist’s portraits. In-between working on the drawings, chatting with the weekend participants, and doing additional sketching in books, we were also lucky enough to see the artist paint on the collaborative Baby Tattoville ’09 Art Jam painting. It was a truly once in a lifetime treat for all fans of Mr. Louie over the weekend and being able to take home such a special item was like having Walt Disney himself give you a drawing after a magical day at Disneyland.
