We stopped by last night at the Carmichael Gallery to take a look at how the Dan Witz show was shaping up. Entitled “Dark Doings,” Witz opted to base his show around his street work this time around as he is also known for his light infused oil paintings. The show will consist of mostly limited edition pieces (half which are placed in the streets) which also come with a photograph of the piece in it’s urban setting.
As evidenced by the piece we highlighted on Halloween, Witz employs his high wit to make it look like people, animal, or various cartoon characters are stuck behind grills, vents, and doors utilizing hand and digitally finished photographs. If you look closely at the surrounding area around the gallery, you may do a double take when you see some of Witz handiwork (including on the 101 freeway).
