Mark Murphy’s curated events are always a treat for us here at AM, and after his previous curatorial exploits we’ve witnessed such as his Aqua art fair exhibition during last year’s Basel Week in Miami, and of course Scribble 08, we’re looking forward to this years endeavour – “Survey Select”. Billed as a “narrative art exhibition,” Survey Select brings together the work of 65 contemporary artists in a salon style exhibition showcase.
Accompanying the exhibition itself will be a series of creative workshops, film screenings and artist discussions during the run of the event. A special preview night and artist reception is being hosted on July 15th at the main location of the exhibit – the Wonder Bread Factory in downtown San Diego. The show opens fully to the public on the 16th July and runs through to September 5th. A catalog / book is to be published by Murphy on the occasion of the event, and is sure to be a must have for all the art-book collectors out there, us included. Take a look at one of writer Gilad Segal’s essays on the subject of the event here.
Look for some great artists on show such as Jeff Soto, Brendan Monroe, Logan Hicks, Mars-1, Jacob Magraw Mickelson, Oliver Vernon, Martin Wittfooth, Shawn Barber, The Clayton Brothers, Kelsey Brooks, Dalek, AJ Fosik, James Jean plus a whole stack more. Take a look at more preview images after the jump.
