Streets: New Banksy x 3

Some new pieces from Banksy recently popped up on Wooster Collective yesterday at undisclosed locations although somewhere in the UK is a pretty good bet. Playing on some pretty classic themes we have come to expect from Mr. B, these street pieces with presumably no strings attached remind us of why we love the elusive street artist. More after the jump…

Contest Results: The D*Face x Arrested Motion *Face Painting Contest and Skatedeck Giveaway

We like catchy titles, and you don’t get much more catchy than the mouthful we named this contest. When we set the contest to win a set of exclusive and uber-limited skate decks D*Face designed for Real Skateboards, we were hoping that AM’s readers would rise to the challenge and pull out all the creative stops. Well, we received more than 50 entries for the contest, and each delighted us with the range of artistic talent shown by the entrants. To recap, the rules were […]

Studio Visits / Previews: Shepard Fairey – “Printed Matters” @ Subliminal Projects

AM recently stopped by Shepard Fairey’s (featured) secret secondary studio where much of his “fine art” is actually made. Officially called “Studio Number Two”, the hidden industrial space houses the heavy lumber for his coming show “Printed Matters” at Subliminal Projects. After the sold out show at Deitch Projects, Shep decided to create a body of work based on his signature silkscreening technique. Utilizing mediums of metal, wood and hand painted multiples (HPMs), he and his talented crew took the entire summer building up the […]

Openings: Dave Kinsey – “New Works” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

On Thursday night, AM attended the much anticipated opening of Dave Kinsey’s solo exhibition at Joshua Liner Gallery. This being the largest body of works which Dave has created to date, it encompassed both rooms of JLG’s Chelsea gallery space – space well spent as Kinsey’s latest batch of artistic goodness entranced the audience with his signature style, mix of colors, textures and striking compositions. Aside from the consistent quality we have come to expect in this body of work which we previewed in our […]

Openings: James Jean – The “Birds and Boys” Series @ 3.1 Phillip Lim – Fashion’s Night Out

High fashion and fine art was exhibited in a seamless mix as James Jean unveiled his Birds and Boys series at 3.1 Phillip Lim during Fashion’s Night Out in West Hollywood. Jean’s fantastically cool portraits of the famous and the beautiful of Los Angeles were hung throughout the store, occupying the same racks as Lim’s elegantly designed threads. The city’s most stylish and hip made it out and the proceeds from the sale of the artist’s work helps to benefit the LACMA Costume Council.  With […]

Along with this tremendous piece from ROA seen above (probably his largest to date), EVOL, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, and M-City have also been sighted.  Take a look at all the pics after the jump…

This Saturday night, German duo Herakut will be opening their show, “Hope’s Reply”, at LeBasse Projects. As opposed to previous exhibitions where they have gone all out on installations, but this time, the new body work work will be displayed in what’s billed as a more “white walls” setting. Take a look at some more teaser shots sent to us from CampBarbossa after the jump…
