As part of a two person exhibition on tap next weekend at David B. Smith Gallery, Laura Ball will bring her animal imagery to Denver in striking fashion. Opening Friday, January 28th, New Works (teased) will highlight a series of the California artist’s watercolor works on paper, where colorfully rendered landscapes are set upon stark white backdrops thus sharpening the drama of the scenarios. Disparate animals are playfully clumped together as one to create larger animal forms, perhaps proving commentary on the interconnectedness of all living species. With an intriguing narrative and tight execution, her work, showing alongside Ryan McLennan (teased), should prove worthy of in person examination for all those in the area.
