AM made a special visit to Flowers Gallery to catch the show Perspective & Perception show by Patrick Hughes. The British surrealist painter is someone that has fascinated us for years, but it’s hard to put into words why (we’ll try), as his paintings are something that should really be seen in person to appreciate. Patrick utilizes a technique called “reverspective“, where he literally builds his three-dimensional paintings from the ground up before he paints on them. Utilizing the physical depth created to accentuate the visual high points, Patrick creates beautiful paintings that seems flat when you first look at them, but the moment you move, the paintings seem to shift with you to follow your movements.
