Dynamic contemporary artist, José Parlá, will be setting his hometown New York City stomping grounds ablaze next month with a new solo exhibition, entitled Walls, Diaries, and Paintings (teased). The former street artist, who has become of master of his own brand of mixed media calligraphic work, started off the year already with a bang in Toronto with two huge murals (covered). By the looks of these preview images, he appears more than ready to keep the momentum rolling with this new body of work. Opening in perfect synchronicity with the The Armory Show (and the other NY fairs) on Thursday, March 3rd, Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery will play host to 15 new paintings, collectively telling the story of José’s experiences in the urban environment – both local and abroad – that have come to serve as his artistic muse. With a newly released book by the same title capping off the exhibition, this is positioning itself to be an absolute must see show.
Check out an extensive preview after the jump.
