Xenz recently opened up his new show Pecking Disorder at The Outsiders, Lazarides’ Newcastle location. With his first show in his native north of England, the artist whose roots lay in graffiti, mixes his vibrant landscapes and in particular his love for birds with an urban setting. He states “as a whole the show examines the idea of taking a holiday in paradise without realising that paradise is all in the mind. Normally I paint a fantasy world, so this body of work’s been interesting to produce as it contains mostly urban scenes. I’ve put in some older work that seems to resonate within that context, like the drunken canary which to me symbolises over-consumption.”
