After ten straight days of painting, albeit with the help of some university art students, Dalek (interviewed) has completed a massive four panel, site-specific installation within the Birmingham Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Alabama. Last week at their Central Hong Kong space, Gagosian Gallery opened an exhibition of work from New York-based contemporary artist Richard Prince. Timed perfectly to coincide with Art HK ’11, the exhibition marked the first solo effort in Asia for the famed photographer, painter, and mixed media artist. We were impressed with the preview images we saw from Tat Ito’s debut New York solo show, Momento Mori, at the Joshua Liner Gallery, but were still blown away after seeing the paintings in person at the opening. Ito’s new paintings retain much of what we loved in his previous work, such as the humorous and unique costumed characters and delicate silver-leafed backgrounds. Streets: Montana Cans Across America

As most graf and street artists know, one of the suppliers of their tools of the trade is spray paint company Montana Cans. The Germany-based business now has a new project called Montana Cans Across America where a team of graf artists consisting of Smash 137, Wane and Sever take a 8-day roadtrip through the South. Getting up in the unlikely locale of Tennessee, Madrid-based REMED aka Guillaume Alby painted this mural for UrbanArt, an independent non-profit organization dedicated to development of public art in Memphis. Entitled Man & Woman Facing Each Other, the wall is a perfect example of the Spanish street artist’s organic geometry and lesser seen letter work.
