Studio visits are probably the most enjoyable things that we get to do here at AM. A little time to talk with the artist about their work, and also a chance to soak up the environment in which the work is created.
David Shillinglaw’s environment is a pretty special one. His North London home and studio is situated at the top of an old brick-built warehouse / factory building and the huge loft offers more work and play space than any of the studios than we’ve visited in London previously. You may have caught a glimpse of the space in the recent video we showed you made by Joanna Dudderidge. We caught up with David a month or so ago as he prepared a large body of work for his upcoming solo show All You’ll Ever Need, which is to be hosted by Cement at East Gallery in London opening on 25th August. The exhibition promises to be quite exciting. You should definitely go along if you are in town. And if you rsvp to [email protected] you also get automatically entered into a contest to win a signed limited edition screen print made by Mr Shillinglaw.
