On the first of October, the Carmichael Gallery will welcome father and son duo, Eriberto and Estevan Oriol, to Culver City for an exhibition together. Entitled appropriately Like Father, Like Son, the retrospective survey will comprise of twenty-five limited edition prints from each photographer, including black and white, color, silver gelatin and digital c-prints.
Eriberto Oriol is well known for his photographs of LA Latino street life, street art, and graffiti – a talent that he later fostered in his son Estevan. In addition to work with major corporations like the NBA, Nike, and Vans, he also has work in the MOCA’s permanent collection and has been profiled in multiple media publications like Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, Daily Telegraph, to name a few. Estevan Oriol, who famously worked as tour manager for Cypress Hill and House of Pain in the early days has transitioned successfully to an international recognized photographer and lifestyle entrepreneur. His skills are in constant demand for commercial projects as well as celebrity portraiture – for example Xzibit, 50 Cent, Kim Kardashian, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Dennis Hopper, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and more.
It will be certainly interesting to compare the two photographers work in person, especially with their history in mind. More preview images after the jump…
