In a decidedly busy summer, Greg Lamarche (interviewed) and his artwork were all over the place, from a full showing in Toronto alongside Dalek, as well as group shows in New York and San Francisco. Now, as summer formerly came to a close a couple weeks back, Lamarche keeps cutting and pasting for a show with Known Gallery. Opening this weekend alongside Eric Haze’s New Mathematics (teased), I Can See For Miles brings former graffiti writer SP ONE’s unique typographic and abstract paper collages to Los Angeles. With letters salvaged from old magazines and newspapers, Lamarche’s work centers around clever, street-infused word play. A selection of more abstract works, composed of the leftover shards of irregularly shaped paper that would otherwise be discarded, will also be on display. Also on display will be an elaborate hand-drawn, graffiti-inspired wall installation, blending the best of both Larmarche worlds. Both shows are on tap for this Saturday, September 17th, so get out if you can.
Check out a couple more installation and preview images after the jump from Carlos Gonzalez…
