A few Sundays ago, AM decided to swing by Brett Amory’s Oakland studio while he was preparing for his upcoming Lazarides solo entitled Waiting 101 at the Newcastle location. On a wet Friday evening, Fifty24SF hosted Mexico City-based artist Saner’s latest exhibition entitled Corazon Sangrante (Bleeding Heart). The show is made up of a series of paintings and drawings (some of which have burn and stitching elements) with his signature characters fitted with animalistic masks in situations that reflect what he observes around him in everyday life. This Saturday night, March 24th, the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica will play host to a group exhibition celebrating 18 years of Juxtapoz goodness. As with many other artists followed by AM in the past, it looks like James Jean (featured) has been tapped to provided the cover art for Talib Kweli’s new album Prisoner of Conscious. Featuring the LA-based artist’s intricate stylings as a mask, the American rapper has chosen the title from his constant labeling as a “conscious rapper” and as a play off Nigerian reggae artist Majek Fashek’s album named Prisoner of Conscience. Last week, AM attended the much anticipated opening for Kris Kuksi’s latest body of work entitled Triumph. The solo exhibition held at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery was his most impressive yet. A few weekends back in Los Angeles, Luis De Jesus opened a group exhibition entitled Dualities, Omissions, Loops, and Ruptures, featuring local artists Chris Engman, Cody Trepte, Samantha Roth, and John Houck. Recently, Nick Walker (interviewed) took a little trip across the pond to Chi-town hoping to spread a little Vandal love. With the weather finally cooperating Nick packed his freshly cut stencils and hit the streets of Chicago. Coming up this Saturday night (March 24th), the LeBasse Projects in Chinatown will be presenting a collection sculptural works from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) that he has been working for the last several years. The showing, entitled Jokes On Me…, features customized figures of iconic toys from childhood as well his own creations putting his skills with a range of mediums including plaster, resin, vinyl, clay and wood. Streets: JR x Liu Bolin (Part II)

Yesterday, we gave you an inside look at the collaborative project between Liu Bolin and JR (featured). During the first part of the day, the French artist wheat-pasted up a beautiful photo mural of the Liu. Now, we get to see Chinese artist return the favor and camouflage JR into his own art with his signature touch.
