In Anachronistic Capture: Motion & Stills, opening March 29 (and curated by AM’s Khoi Nguyen) at Design Matters in Los Angeles, Quam Odunsi uses vintage cameras and equipment to create photographs and video in formats such as 35mm, Polaroid, and Super 8mm film. Utilizing his background as a filmmaker, the oftentimes kinetic work in the exhibition explores and probes today’s Los Angeles – its settings, ideas, and inhabitants – as recorded through the lens of yesterday’s gear.
